With that amount of Periscoping under my belt I’ve noticed something that I wasn’t aware could happen.
My old Scopes are beginning to disappear.
“Well of course, they disappear after 24 hours – that’s the whole point of periscope” you say.
Some would argue this is correct but, what made me fall in love with periscoping is that it allowed the broadcaster to have their past periscopes saved somewhere on Twitter’s servers for what I thought would be “forever”.
However, over the last few weeks or maybe it’s been last month or so I’ve seen my broadcast # stagnate at about 485 broadcasts. Although I scope almost daily, the number definitely hasn’t gone over 500 and only on one day did I catch it go over 486 – does this mean the “scope library” on twitter is in danger?
To clarify - I've done over 600 periscopes altogether but my personal handle @motivating_mins definitely has more followers and more periscope broadcasts.
I hope not but, in Twitters defense as more and more people join the platform it can become nebulous attempting to save all 2-3 Million (and growing) broadcasters scopes for an infinite amount of time.
Maybe there was a warning that was shared previously – only problem is I did not get it.
So be warned – if you have some old periscopes and they haven’t yet been caught by catch – attempt to save them as soon as you can or lose those classic scopes when you were sharing pictures of your fridge – forever.
